Monsie

My great-aunt, Monsie (Marjory)

I dug way back in my stash for the papers I used in this layout.  The copyright date on them was 2 years before I even started scrapbooking so they were old when I bought them, lol.  For anyone who is interested they are all from the Signature Suite and Signature Life collections by My Mind's Eye.

This one is fairly simple, focusing mostly on layered die-cuts.  As usual, I layered each die-cut over a darker version.

These are the dies and punch I used:

Spellbinders - Romantic Rectangles
Cheery Lynn Designs
- Polynesian Sails Oval
Spellbinders - Splendid Cirlcles
Spellbinders- Romantic Rose
Cheery Lynn Designs
 - Kiwi Spirit Doily
Martha Stewart Punch set
 - French Scroll

The cream coloured flowers are the same as the ones I used in my Tammy layout (layered die cuts with ivory Flowersoft glued to the centers).

Cheery Lynn Designs - Build a Flower #1

All the chipboard pieces are by Wycinanka

I left most of the chipboard (except for the butterflies) plain because I liked the look of their creamy white colour with the photo.  I stamped the butterflies with a medium brown waterproof ink and then did a white-wash over them to soften the contrast.

I applied lace trim along the inside of the punched edges and added some adhesive pearls along it.

Underneath the lace border I added some shading with watercolour paint (a mixture of alizarin crimson, ultramarine, and burnt umber).

Thank you so much for looking!

  2. You are the Queen, or should I say Empress, of die cuts!!!! Stunning feminine layout with your usual perfect touches!! I'm waiting to see a photo of all these heritage layouts framed and hung together, it would be a jaw dropping sight! :))

  3. I agree with Natalie! You are definitely the master with dies! I love the way you are able to use dies that always compliment each other. All of the details (dies, lace, pearl accents, shading, colors, adorable die cut flowers, metal brads, Wycinanka pieces, punching...) give this layout the true WOW factor! Ironically, I'm about done with a mauve-teal LO too that I used the same punch you did...but nothing close to this incredible art! Incredible work Tracy!
