Maureen and Cece

My mother Cecilia with her younger sister Maureen

For this layout I used a piece of 49 and Market paper for the background.

49 and Market
Rusty Autumn - Reminescent

I used another sheet of the same paper to make most of the die-cuts for some subtle layering.  As I usually do, I layered the die-cuts over a black copy and offset them slightly to accentuate the edges and add dimension.  I also inked around the edges of the die-cuts with Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink.

These are the dies and punch I used:

Cheery Lynn Designs
Ambergris Doily
Cheery Lynn Designs
Ambergris Tiny Doily
Tattered Lace
Mini Ruffle Squares
Fiskars
In Stitches
Spellbinders
Thinking of You Scalloped Rectangles
My Favorite Things
Four Corners

This is the chipboard piece I used:

Creative Embellishments
Flourish 30

I embossed the flourish with Milled Lavender Distress Embossing Powder and inked around the edges with Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink.

I also did some stamping on the background with several different stamps using black and grey inks.

The lace flowers and berry clusters were misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang spray Pink Ladies Pink and Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist.  I dabbed the excess off the lace flowers with paper towel to lift some of the colour and lighten them.

Hazel and the Puppy

My Aunt Hazel

For this layout I used papers from the Wallflower paper stash by Tim Holtz.

These are the dies and punch I used:

Cheery Lynn Designs
Horizon Circles
Tattered Lace
Mini Ruffle Squares
Spellbinders
Romantic Rectangles Two
Martha Stewart
Wild Flowers
Spellbinders
Victorian Corners

I layered all the die-cuts over a dark brown cardstock copy and offset them slightly to accentuate the edges.

These are the chipboard pieces I used:

Blue Fern Studios
Bits of Honey
Creative Embellishments
Rose Leaves Spray

I painted the Rose Leaves Spray green and then embossed all the chipboard pieces with ultra thick embossing enamel using clear ink.  For the Bits of Honey I lightly dabbed brown, pale green and white paint overtop using a paintbrush.

I painted the Rose Leaves Spray again with the same green and added veins with brown paint using a fine-tipped brush.  I then scratched over the veins with a pin and applied some watery light green paint in between the veins.

As usual, I layered the die-cuts over a black version and offset them slightly to accentuate the edges.

These are the chipboard pieces I used:

Dusty Attic
Grass Clusters #2

I painted the grass clusters green and then brushed on watery layers of darker and lighter greens to add dimension.

For the metal corner pieces and butterfly, I applied a thick glaze of matte gel and brown paint and  wiped off the excess with a paper towel.  I then rubbed some pale pink paint overtop with my fingertip.

Esther and the Girls

My great-great aunt Esther (front, left)

For this layout I used a piece of Tim Holtz Idea-ology paper from the Wallflower collection as the background.

I trimmed the edges of the paper slightly, misted them with water and distressed the edges using my fingers.  I then inked the edges lightly with Fawn Colorbox Chalk ink.

This is the die set I used.

Spellbinders
Romantic Rose

I layered the die-cuts over a dark brown copy and offset them slightly to accentuate the edges.

The white lace pieces were misted with Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist to tone down the brightness and "antique" them.

To antique the Prima resin pieces, I applied a glaze of matte gel mixed with a dab of brown paint and then wiped off the excess.

Using my finger, I rubbed pale pink paint over the metal pieces to highlight the raised areas. I added a little extra paint to the tips of the rose in the center with a paintbrush.
