Circa 1896

My Icelandic great-great grandparents Jon and Guðrún  with their children
(my great-grandmother Bjorg is standing center back)
The photo was taken around 1896 by my great-grandfather, Bjarni.

For this layout I used some very old TPC Studio papers from their Ancestral collection.

I punched the outer edge of the background paper and glued some of the leftover punched pieces along the top and upper sides of the photo to make a bit of a frame.

I also did some machine embroidery stitching on the background paper.

These are the punch and dies I used:

Martha Stewart punch
- Eyelet Lace
Cheery Lynn Designs die
- Lilith Doily
Cheery Lynn Designs die
- Polynesian Sails Doily

Tattered Lace die
- Ornate Leaves
Spellbinders die
- Floral Assortment

This is the chipboard set I used:

Dusty Attic - Elegant Swirls #3

I painted the chipboard pieces a rusty coloured brown and then applied a coat of Viva Decor Ferro paint in Irongold.

The cream-coloured flowers are by 49 and Market from their Vintage Shades collection in the Ecru colour.

Thank you so much for taking a look!

  1. Tracy, I always love the beautiful details in your layouts! How wonderful to have such a vintage photo as this!! Bjorg is stunning - she's beautiful here as what looks like a teenager and also in your other layout as an adult. I love the innovative idea of framing the photo with leftover punched pieces - WOWOWOW! I love the way you use an assortment of flowers! FABULOUS!
