Me at Tikal

Me at Tikal, Guatemala in 1992

In 1992 I took an archaeology field course that took place in Belize.  On one of our weekends off we went to Guatemala to visit the Mayan site of Tikal.  In the photo I am standing on the platform of Temple II with Temple I in the background.

For this layout, I used a piece of 7 Dots Studio paper.

7 Dots Studio
Dreamscapes - Narwhal

I did some stenciling on the background with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink using a Clarity stencil brush.

Tim Holtz
Bricked

I also did some stamping with Tea Dye Distress Ink around the edges of the paper.

Pink Paislee
Butterfly Garden - Impressions

And some sporadic punching around the outer edge as well.

Fiskars
Diamond Edge

These are the chipboard pieces I used:

2Crafty
Geo Triangular Border

Wycinanka
Romance - Ramka / Szyld

I embossed all the chipboard pieces with Stampendous Aged Ochre embossing powder and lightly brushed some green paint overtop to grunge them up a bit.

The fern leaves and berries are by 49 and Market, the other leaves and flowers are by Petaloo.

I cut out a piece of Mayan pottery from a photo I took and tucked it into the lower left flower cluster.

Thank you so much for taking a look!
